Sometimes, you’ve just got to grab your girls andgo.

It may not be planned. It may not even be practical. But something, some indescribable, inexplicablething tells you, “we’ve got to hit the open road”.

So many of my childhood memories stem from westward road trips along Route 66. From passing the WigWam Motel and dreaming of getting to stay there someday. From stopping at roadside truck stops and coveting the most kitschy of things – a beaded headband, a Native American-style necklace – and my sister and I begging for them so relentlessly that our parents finally conceded. I don’t remember where we were going, I don’t remember what we did when we got there, but I vividly recall those moments along the way.

This collection is an ode to the road-trippers. The gals who still pack snacks and make playlists and map out historic sites. Those who know that a great pair of boots, a good tube of lipstick, and a full tank of gas are all they really need. It’s an ode to truck stop souvenirs, to the accidental memories made from missed exits and wrong turns, to the candid and careless snapshot photos that will eternally transport you back to a time and place that you can always revisit but never recreate.

This is for you, the modern-day Thelmas and Louises, who understand that adversity is really an adventure, if you just tilt your head and squint a little.

And above all, we dedicate this catalog to the Double D Ranch Wolf Pack, a group of incredible women who consistently remind us what style, courage, camaraderie, and adventure really look like.

My father co-owned a business named Double D ranch, on Route 66, in Blue Cut, CA. It was a gas station/garage/motel/restaurant.

Thank you for DDR! If only the whole wolf pack could do a convoy across Arizona. Wouldn’t that be fun. Cheryl your creativity now has us all planning our next road trip! Love every piece of the collection! #175 headed to Route 66!

Wow… I just love reading these blogs and especially this one. I loved being transported back to the old motor inn days of glory that made up so much of my childhood. Traveling was a lot simpler then. I collect those really cool motor inn chairs because it’s was such a wonderful time with wonderful memories. Everything in this collection is fabulous and y’all are amazing at capturing the whole essence of Route 66 and the magic of this era. Love it all.

Oh the memories made by wrong turns and “getting lost” are so fun and special. It’s been too long since I hit the open road…time to start mapping out historic sites to see! Wonderful presentation.

This certainly stirred up my memories. Somewhere, there’s a photo of 5 year old me, on top of a fake horse, in front of a motor inn from 1959?
